Venus Flytrap ‘Giant Trap’

Dionaea muscipula ‘Giant Trap’ is an impressive Venus flytrap cultivar selected for its exceptionally large traps. Mature plants produce broad, powerful traps on strong leaves, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a particularly dramatic Venus flytrap.

When grown in strong sunlight, the traps can develop attractive red colouring inside, contrasting with the fresh green outer growth. The largest traps are normally produced during the height of the growing season when the plant is mature and growing strongly.

‘Giant Trap’ requires the same straightforward care as other Venus flytraps: keep it in full sun, stand the pot in rainwater, and grow it in specialist nutrient-poor carnivorous plant compost. Never use ordinary multipurpose compost or fertiliser.

During winter, the plant naturally enters dormancy, when growth becomes much smaller and some older leaves die back. Fresh growth returns in spring.
