DESCRIPTION
If you were to imagine a dream hybrid between two species in the genus with the largest pitchers, this might well be it! This creation was decades in the making and we only managed to germinate a single seed from the grex, so it’s of one clone. We call it a “selected clone” because although it was not chosen by humans for any particular characteristic, it isn’t a random selection from a batch of clones either. As it’s the only seed that germinated and subsequently made it through to production, it was naturally selected for its strength. We expect this cross to produce huge and amazing pitchers and it’s a joy watching our stock plants mature.
The female parent is N. rajah, which is one of the four clones donated in-vitro from the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew in the 1990s. The male parent is the giant black N. robcantleyi, with the cultivar name ‘King of Spades’.First introduced in July 2020 through Borneo Exotics wholesale auctions, it was last auctioned at small size in July 2021 and added to the shop in Jan 2022 , Horticultural, bred by Borneo Exotics from seed-raised parent plants. From a single clone out of microprop.
