Named after the famous 19 century botanist J.Veitch, N. veitchii, is undoubtably one of the most spectacular of the nepentheceae. This species has two distinct forms growing between 55 - 1200m. the lowland variety with a golden, broad, flattened peristome and a narrow lid, grows in lowland forest near rivers. By contrast the highland form has a green and red streaked peristome and a rounded lid and may be found on mossy forest ridges. This species is native to Central Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah and Kalimantan. 6cm + dia golden peristome form
